Some land sales slowing down

A farmland analyst says the pace of land sales has decreased since last fall.

Randy Dickhut with Agricultural Economic Insights tells Brownfield, “There’s a little more uncertainty in the commodity markets, what’s going on in the world, and higher input costs,” he said. “It’s causing farmer-buyers to be a little more cautious.”

He says prices for good quality crop land remain strong.

“We’re not seeing those records we were hearing about last year,” Dickhut said. “Every time you picked up media there would be a report of a new record auction price somewhere.”

Dickhut says prices have softened for lower quality ground.
