Small decline in Illinois corn, bean condition
Corn, soybeans and pasture conditions last week are down slightly from the week before.
Nearly 100% of Illinois corn has emerged. Sixty-eight-percent of the corn that has is rated good to excellent.
Soybean planting reached 95% as of Sunday, ahead of the five-year average. Soybean emergence is well ahead of average at 91%. Eighty-two percent of soybeans are rated fair to good.
Winter wheat condition is nearly 60% good with 23% excellent.
The average temperature in Illinois last week was seven degrees above normal and there was less than an inch of rain statewide. The US Drought Monitor shows sections of west-central and eastern, and, the northernmost areas of Illinois as “abnormally dry.”
