Senators seek strengthened RFS

A bipartisan group of U.S. Senators have joined a letter asking the Biden administration to strengthen the Renewable Fuel Standard.

Republican Chuck Grassley of Iowa says they want blending requirements maintained for 2023 and an increase in RFS volumes for advanced biofuels.

“We have seen huge investments in renewable diesel that the EPA simply does not account for,” he said. “The final rule must correct this error.”

Grassley says the Senators are also asking the Environmental Protection Agency to deny all pending small refinery exemptions.

The letter was signed by Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), John Thune (R-S.D.), Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.), Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), Gary Peters (D-Mich.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), and Jerry Moran (R-Kan.).
