Senators discuss trade, farm bill with Trump
President Trump met with several Republican senators Thursday for a meeting focused in part on trade and agriculture.
In a statement following the meeting, Senate Ag Committee chair Pat Roberts said he stressed to Trump the importance of NAFTA and that farmers and ranchers need their export markets to stay open. Roberts says he also emphasized the need for a “good” farm bill.
Roberts said Trump understands “the difficulty farm country is going through”.
Trump will deliver an address Monday at the American Farm Bureau’s annual convention in Nashville. Brownfield’s Tom Steever is covering that event, which gets underway today.
