Senator says ’18 Farm Bill likely to look more like Senate version

A member of the Senate Ag Committee says the 2018 Farm Bill will probably look more like the Senate version than the House.

Minnesota Democrat Tina Smith tells Brownfield she’s been briefed by one of the principal negotiators.

“When I spoke with Senator Stabenow, she confirmed that she thought the bill had a lot of similarities with the Senate bill, and that’s very good news.  That Senate bill was a strong, bipartisan effort.”

Smith says she’s confident the farm bill will be voted on this week, beginning with the House.
