Senator Baldwin says USMCA floor vote expected in a week or two

A Wisconsin Senator expects the USMCA trade deal to get a full Senate vote within a couple of weeks.  Democrat Tammy Baldwin tells Brownfield USMCA must go before every Senate committee that has jurisdiction over the policies in the agreement. “I think the total number of committees in the Senate is seven. One down with the Finance Committee, six to go.”

Baldwin says she’s on three of those committees but expects rapid approval. “I think that all of the rest of the committees will expedite their consideration and maybe pass it out without any sort of formal hearings, and I think that’s why we hope that it will be within possible at the end of next week, probably more likely the following week.”

Baldwin says it was important for the House to work with the administration to improve the enforceability measures in the agreement. “I think the improvements made in the House are real, and it has won my support, and I’m looking forward to casting an aye vote when it comes to the Senate floor.”

Baldwin says Congress will have to watch for enforcement problems once USMCA is implemented.
