Senate farm bill on the floor Tuesday

The Senate farm bill discussion starts Tuesday.  Senators passed a cloture vote late Monday, which set the rules for debate and opens the door for possible amendments.

The Senate farm bill is labeled as HR-2, but even with a House of Representatives bill number, a staff member for Senate Ag Committee Chairman Pat Roberts tells Brownfield this bill is the Senate’s bipartisan language and not the House language which passed by two votes last week.

Little if any discussion is expected on the Senate floor in the morning, with most of the farm bill discussion taking place in the afternoon.
