Saputo acquires North Carolina dairy processors

Saputo is expanding its dairy footprint in the U.S. with the acquisition of two cheesemaking companies.  The deal announced Wednesday says Saputo paid 118 million to purchase Carolina Dairy and Carolina Aseptic from AmeriQual Group Holdings LLC.

The Montreal-based Saputo issued a statement saying the acquisitions in Troy and Biscoe, North Carolina will allow them to capture the growing demand for aseptic protein beverages and nutritional snacks.

Saputo has dairy processing operations in Canada, Australia, Argentina, the United Kingdom, and the United States.  They are the top U.S. blue cheese and string cheese producer, and one of the top three U.S. Mozzarella makers.
