Rice and corn harvest underway in Arkansas

Harvest is underway in parts of Arkansas.

Five percent of the state’s corn crop has been harvested, and 41% of the corn crop has reached maturity with 85% dented, and 66% rated good to excellent.  One percent of the rice crop has been harvested with 84% headed, 8% mature, and 66% rated good to excellent.  The cotton crop has 96% setting bolls, with 11% opening, and 81% of the crop is rated good to excellent.  Soybeans have started dropping leaves with 88% of the crop setting pods, 13% coloring, and 63% is rated good to excellent.  Peanuts are rated 95% good to excellent with 100% of the crop pegging. 

Hay second cutting is 79% complete and 89% rated good.  Pastures are rated 46% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture is rated 32% percent adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is rated 38% adequate to surplus.
