RFS expiration a common misnomer
The CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association says it’s a common misnomer that the Renewable Fuel Standard ends in four years.
Geoff Cooper tells Brownfield the RFS doesn’t stop in 2022.
“What stops in 2022 is the specific volumes being laid out in the law.”
But, he says renewable fuels opponents are perpetuating a myth in hopes of compromising the RFS.
“There are many in the oil industry that are trying to stoke fears in our industry and in ag by saying this program is going to end in a couple years and you guys need to come to the table and cut a deal with us on what’s next for the industry.”
Cooper says RFA is working with the EPA on implementing a plan for the Renewable Fuel Standard beyond 2022.
