RFA praises HBIIP grant funds
The Renewable Fuels Association says new biofuel infrastructure funding from USDA will have a wide range of uses.
Cassie Mullen is RFA’s director of market development. “Obviously a big portion of it has been used in the past for retailers, but there’s also funding that’s available for fuel distribution projects such as bulk plants. There’s also funding available for rail projects. There’s some money available for marinas.”
Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack announced Monday the agency will soon begin accepting applications for $450 million in grants through the Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program.
She tells Brownfield, “Any type of infrastructure that can further the amount of ethanol that we have in the marketplace, you know it’s pretty much on the table.”
Mullen says the grants will help expand the availability of higher blends of ethanol and biodiesel.
