Reports indicate Trump will make E15 announcement Tuesday

Reports indicate President Trump will make an announcement on E15 relief while in Iowa next week.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says she’s looking forward to hosting the President in Council Bluffs Tuesday.

“I think this is great news for Iowa farmers.  I’ve fought extremely hard for a robust Renewable Fuel Standard, I’ve testified before the EPA, we called (the EPA) out when they weren’t doing what they said they were going to do.”

Neither Reynolds or Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig have confirmed the President plans to announce year-round E15 sales, but Naig says he’s hopeful certainty is being built back into the market.

“Should E15 become a reality, which we hope it is in short-order, those are all positive things.”

The Renewable Fuels Association says allowing E15 to be sold any time of the year would allow consumers to have access to a cleaner, lower-cost, higher octane fuel.

President Trump has publicly said the barrier preventing E15 from being sold year-round is “unnecessary and ridiculous.”

Reynolds and Naig made their comments in interviews with Radio Iowa.
