Record cheese stocks growing

Declines in U.S. butter stocks are being offset by cheese inventories setting a record for August.

In USDA’s latest Cold Storage report, cheese stocks totaled nearly 1.5 billion pounds, up four percent from 2021, but down three percent on the month. Other types of cheese, like mozzarella and parmesan, also set a monthly high record.

Butter inventories were down 22 percent from last year and 10 percent from the previous month at more than 280 million pounds.
