Rains help fall fertilizer plans

Recent rains in Missouri are helping farmers make decisions on fall fertilizer. West-central Missouri farmer Daniel Carpenter says some farmers are starting to think about anhydrous and others already started spreading dry fertilizer. Carpenter’s farm is in the planning stage. “Fertilizer decisions can take time. With harvest being done, our farm is taking advantage of the time we have to do that.” In the last week, some MFA co-op locations already started applying anhydrous. MFA Inc. Chris DeMoss with MFA Incorporated says it’s also been a strong October for dry fertilizer. “This indicates to me, there’s a desire for fall fertilizer applications. And with the sales we have on the books, I’d anticipate us having one of our largest fall applications for anhydrous. Hopefully, we’ve got good weather in December to get fall work finished up.”
