Rain slows a very productive week across southern Minnesota

Overnight rain is expected to slow an otherwise very productive week of fieldwork across southern Minnesota.

Rochelle Krusemark of Trimont says she and her family already have some corn and soybeans planted.

“The soil is in great shape. It’s the best it’s been in three years. It’s nice and mellow, the top is dry, and I think the tile was running all winter.”

She tells Brownfield soil temps at six inches are nearly 50 degrees.

“So when you’re only planting an inch and-a-half deep, (we’re in good shape). The forecast looks good, so we’re pretty excited.

Krusemark says they did not get all their manure injected in the fall, so they’ve been busy finishing that up as well.
