Rain slowed Nebraska’s harvest activity

Slowed by last week’s rains, Nebraska’s corn and soybean harvests are running behind the normal pace.

As of Sunday, 11 percent of the state’s corn crop had been harvested, compared to the five-year average of 24 percent.  Soybean harvest, at 16 percent complete, was well behind the 41 average.

The rains have been beneficial to the newly-planted winter wheat crop.  Sixty-four percent of the wheat has emerged, well ahead of the 46 average.
