Propane demand outpaces supply in parts of Iowa

The CEO of the Iowa Propane Gas Association says they’re working to find solutions to the propane supply problems impacting parts of the state.

Deb Grooms says the Iowa Governor’s office is also involved.

“The governor’s office has contacted both the Enterprise and ONEOK pipelines to visit with them,” Grooms says. “We’re trying to figure out ways that we can get more propane here into the state.”

Grooms says she received a positive report Monday from one of the main suppliers, ONEOK.

“It looks like there’s a lot more loads coming up the pipe. They’re just not her yet,” she says. “So hopefully they’ll help us as we get into the middle of the week.”

Grooms says there are ample supplies of propane, but the distribution system hasn’t kept up with the higher percentage of corn being dried by farmers.
