Prestage pork plant receives go-ahead

The Wright County, Iowa Board of Supervisors has given the go-ahead for construction of a new pork processing facility by Prestage Foods of Iowa.

By a unanimous vote on Monday, the board approved a development agreement with Prestage Foods, enabling the company to proceed with its proposed 240 million dollar pork plant near Eagle Grove.

Prestage officials said in a statement they’re pleased the company can now move forward with plans for the plant. They plan to break ground in early spring 2017 and finish construction by late 2018.

Wright County is located in north central Iowa.
