Poll finds farmers concerned about coronavirus

New polling data shows farmers are concerned about how the coronavirus will impact their farms and their own health.  The online survey by DTN and Farm Market iD shows nearly 70% of farmers don’t have a backup plan if they become sick with the virus.  The two-day poll compiled March 29th surveyed 420 farmers, and 88% of them were worried the issue would hurt their business, with 56% of that group saying they were very worried or extremely worried.

DTN says nearly half of the farmers polled are now meeting less, practicing social distancing, and doing more hand washing and sanitizing.  It also says farmers are being careful with spending and looking for vendors to work with them during the pandemic on pricing, financing, and delivery options.

The poll also found that more than 70% of farmers are satisfied with the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
