Plenty of soil moisture in Tennessee

Nearly all of Tennessee reports adequate to surplus soil moisture levels.

The USDA says that is despite some producers reporting their driest January in several years, along with warmer than normal temperatures.

72% of winter wheat is rated good to excellent, steady on the month and up 5% on the year.

Cattle conditions are generally good, better than a year ago, with a solid improvement in hay and roughage supplies.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
