Planting pace in Ohio remains slow

Ohio saw frequent rain and generally cool temperatures last week, preventing planting and even replanting of corn and soybeans. More than half of the state reports excess soil moisture.

82% of corn is planted, compared to the five year average of 88%, and 62% has emerged, compared to 64% on average. 49% of corn is rated good to excellent and 39% is called fair.

54% of soybeans are planted, compared to 71% usually this time of year, and 35% has emerged, compared to the normal pace of 38%.

79% of winter wheat is in good to excellent condition and 80% of pastures and rangelands are called good to excellent.
