Planter problems keep Minnesota farmer on sideline
Equipment problems have delayed the start of planting for southwest Minnesota farmer Bill Gordon.
“We had some issues getting the planter (set up). We did some modifications and upgrades, and we’re just having a little bit of hardware and software issues. But we’re working through that as we speak.”
Like a lot of farmers around the Midwest this spring, Gordon has experienced delays getting parts.
“Talking with the John Deere dealership and the International dealership here in Worthington, they both said parts are getting harder and harder to come by (because) the plants aren’t up to full capacity and people aren’t coming back to work.”
The immediate past president of the American Soybean Association says corn in his area should still be capable of reaching full yield potential as long as it’s planted before May 10th.
