Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says he’s very pleased about the agreement between the U.S. and China to pause the trade war, “I’m excited about the possibility of China buying our stuff again and stop stealing our stuff! That’s really what it’s amount – We want ‘em to buy our stuff and stop stealing it… {applause}.”

The Ag Secretary, speaking to Illinois Farm Bureau delegates in Chicago,  says President Trump has high expectations for China but told farmers he understands their situation, “In dealing with the Chinese it’s never over ‘til it’s over. And, as farmers you know that it’s not what you think you’re gonna make but it’s what you take to the elevator and sell and take to the bank after that.”

Perdue thanked the farmers on Trump’s behalf, for taking the brunt of China’s retaliatory tariff, “I know we’re in a tough spot. Kind of a challenging spot in agriculture but the great news is, you folks are tougher.” Perdue says President Trump expects more than talk from China to address its unfair trade positions with the U.S.
