PERC says propane offers financial and environmental benefits

The director of ag business for the Propane Education and Research Council says propane-powered engines can help farmers lower their input costs.

Mike Newland says propane is a cheaper alternative to diesel.

“Prices haven’t gone crazy,” he said. “Sometimes we see that if we get big cold events, it can run prices up in a hurry. That hasn’t happened.”

He tells Brownfield propane also helps reduce emissions.

“Our fuel just burns incredibly clean,” Newland said. “I think it’s the cleanest combustion fuel on the planet today.”

Newland says more farmers than ever have been making the switch to propane-powered equipment.
