Pelosi says she’s optimistic on USMCA

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she optimistic about passage of the USMCA trade deal. But she refused to say if the agreement will be voted on before the end of the year.

“If we can come to terms, which I think we’re close to doing, then this will be a template for future trade agreements—a good pattern for how we can proceed,” Pelosi said. “We have an opportunity to do it right. We’re not there yet, but we understand the last mile that we have to go.”

Pelosi insisted that impeachment proceedings in the House will not affect USMCA consideration.
