Pelosi hints USMCA might advance soon

The U.S. House might approve the USMCA trade agreement soon.  In her press conference last week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters they are moving positively in negotiations with Trade Ambassador Robert Lighthizer, but it comes down to enforcement.  Democrats expect to see USMCA language this week to address their concerns.  What is unclear is if Pelosi’s caucus will vote for the USCMA once it gets to the floor.  If the House passes USMCA this week, the Senate would be able to consider it during the first two weeks of December before the Christmas break.

Also, Japan’s House of Representatives is expected to vote on the U.S.-Japan trade deal Tuesday with the Japanese Diet, their equivalent to the Senate, voting on the package Wednesday.

Congress will also have to spend time this week working to pass a continuing resolution to fund the government, which runs out of money Thursday.
