Pacelle on his ‘anti-meat’ blog

Many in the ag community are convinced that the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is driven by an anti-meat agenda—and that the organization is working to abolish animal agriculture.

Those beliefs are based on past statements made by leaders of the animal rights organization and current HSUS actions to force tougher production standards on livestock producers.

HSUS president and CEO Wayne Pacelle continues to deny the accusations.

However, in a recent blog on the HSUS web site, Pacelle chastised the United Nations Conference for Sustainable Development for not including an anti-meat discussion on its agenda.  And Pacelle went to say, “if you’d like to help animals and the environment, it’s as easy as starting with your next meal.”

In a recent interview, Brownfield asked Pacelle about those comments.  He responded by saying that animal agriculture’s contributions to climate change do need to be examined.

“We’re really concerned about what’s going on with our climate—and we know that animal agriculture is a very big contributor to greenhouse gas emissions,” Pacelle says. “To say that we want to examine that issue and to see appropriate reforms advanced, doesn’t mean we’re against animal agriculture.”

Besides, Pacelle says, there are many livestock producers who support HSUS.

“Why would we have people involved in our organization—involved directly in animal agriculture—if we were trying to end animal agriculture,” Pacelle says.

  • Now we see why ole Wayne is working to bring some farmers and cattlemen and hog producers into his web…he can point to them and say…Look…we are working with animal agriculture…so why would we want to end it? Etc Etc Etc…the wiley fox has entered the hen house.

  • Maybe Pacelle should get discredited Dr. Charles Monnett of the drowning polar bear hoax to validate his claims that animal agriculture is contributing to climate change.

  • Why would we have people involved in our organization—involved directly in animal agriculture—if we were trying to end animal agriculture,” Pacelle says. LIES LIES LIES……if you are in animal agriculture and support HSUS put a gun to your head an pull the trigger….load it first! You might as well because this is what HSUS is wanting to do to production agriculture!!!

  • >“Why would we have people involved in our organization—involved directly in animal agriculture—if we were trying to end animal agriculture,” Pacelle says.<

Bet he was grinning inside when he said that. Infiltration, divide and conquer, worm at the apple's core–all appropriate terms for what Pacelle intends in regards to animal agriculture. Anyone who has heard him speak out of the other side of his lying mouth would "get it", but some are still in major denial, while animal industries are suffering from attacks of the animal rights movement behemoth which is the H$U$.

  • Gosh Wayne must own the USDA and they must believe in Wayne’s world. Can’t even find a picture of a cow on the USDA web site. I have yet to understand why there is a theme of capitalism in large farms, breeding and selling dogs, *seems they do not like a capitalist society) and furthermore have been against the use of science – since vivisection was a topic during the late 1800s whereby those first scientist were looking for cures for diptheria, studying digestion and making strides in saving lives. It is clear that science is not used in their campaigns and life saving research is of no concern to the vegan animal rights movement..
The point of the animal rights organizations is, not to tighten the human-animal bond but to end all use of all animals by humans. Either place it on an endangered species list, or they try to outlaw individual industries. This runs through every campaign and they have had over 40 years to do so.
Much of their campaigns, and confiscations, and destruction of livelihoods is akin to the ALF but just inside of the law. I do not understand why the AETA does not cover HSUS, ASPCA and those who feel a description using deplorable conditions, the poor animals, had to use gas masks but when the pictures are viewed it is of well kept animals. It could be because during the congressional testamoney right at the end, of AETA, it seems Wayne Pacell and his attorneys met with the council to make sure they could not be charged by disrupting business and crossing state lines during confiscations that it would not be termed “animal terriorism”. I do not know what it is, if it is not animal enterprise terriorism. This definitely needs to be revisted since billions and billions have been removed from the cattle, egg, chicken, swine and pet industries. What a rip off when people in general need all the income that can be generated during a time when cities are going bankrupt. The concern is that most animals under “the protective” humane society, have many more rights than most humans. Imigrants who may be in the USA legal or illegal has more rights than someone who raises mink, pets, rabbits, cows, chickens, sheep, goats, or sells eggs, or is a biomed researcher to feed people protein, enjoy an animal or lifesaving research. All the above it seems it is the humans who have no rights to live their lives “naturally” and have a livelihood, but seems these groups take millions from donars simply by not telling the truth or at best are extremely misleading.

  • They are more than misleading they are a cult to the core and want to control the world’s food supply. This is not about animal welfare but it is about fooling the public into giving them large amounts of money to bring down American Agriculture. We see this in Sarah L Conant a former employee of HSUS who is not the Director of Enforcement at The USDA. She has so far shut down 3 out of the 7 small animal pet breeders in the US. The ones who breed a thousand animals a week and never had a violation before she came on board and rewrote the rules that got people half million dollar fines. Now the USDA is trying to bring every show/hobby breeder in the county under their control so they can stop all breeding of pets. The USDA is no longer about pushing agricultural products it is entirely about ending all use of agricultural products. Tom Vilsack and Sarah L. Conant need to go now to protect our food supply for the world. Maurice strong who sat on the HSUS board and also promoted Agenda 21 told the UN that before they could save the world they needed to take down American Agriculture and the HSUS was the perfect organization to do that. Maurice Strong is a board member of the HSUS and founder of the “Agenda 21” a forty chapter document laying out the proposed policies for their agenda which is designed to achieve Maurice Strong’s goal to “cause the collapse of America.”
Maurice Strong advocates using non-government organizations like the HSUS to incrementally implement the policies in the agenda 21 proposal at the state and local level to ultimately achieve his goal to “cause the collapse of America”. Wayne Pacelle President of the HSUS is using misguided Americans that the HSUS propaganda machine has intentionally lied to and misled to destroy America.
Any elected official that is NOT working to repeal every piece of legislation that the HSUS has ever brought about and/or supported is negligent in their duties and supporting Maurice Strong’s efforts to “cause the collapse of America”.
Some people within our government are working along with Maurice Strong and the HSUS attempting to “cause the collapse of America” by destroying America’s agriculture industries.

  • Don’t you think our society should care that animals are treated and slaughtered humanely to become dinner on our plates? Unfortunately, cows, chickens, pigs, etc..feel pain and fear. Paul McCartney has said, “if slaughterhouses had glass doors, we would all be vegans” . My family eats meat but we are concerned about animal abuse in factory farming. We would pay more to make sure animals were treated humanely.
