Online grocery sales expected to quadruple by 2023

A recent report shows online grocery sales are expected to quadruple by 2023.

Packaged Facts, a market research firm, found that online grocery sales tripled between 2013 and 2018. The report shows the increase was a result of more smart phone use, improved websites and mobile apps and more business models focused on shopping delivery.

Packaged Facts predicts the trend will continue to increase in the next five years as shoppers become more open to online shopping and resources become more available.

The report says Amazon and Walmart have the largest impact on the market, with 28% of total online grocery sales.

It says millennials and younger parents are most likely to online shop as well as elderly shoppers with mobility problems.
