Oklahoma is the latest to cancel its State Fair

The Oklahoma State Fair is the latest state fair to cancel amid COVID-19 public health concerns.

The Oklahoma State Fair Board of Directors says that canceling the fair is the “correct course of action” for the state fair to do its part for community health and to mitigate the potential risk to spread the virus.

Timothy J. O’Toole, president of the Oklahoma State Fair says they’re saddened for the businesses, the staff, the competitors, and exhibitors who take part in the various arts, horse, and livestock events.

Many states where the state fair has been canceled are still holding a modified 4-H livestock show, a representative with the Oklahoma State Fair Board says the board plans to review its options after the July 4th holiday.

The event is scheduled to resume in 2021.
