Ohio water quality executive order on hold

There will be no immediate action on the water quality executive order signed by Ohio Governor John Kasich last week.

The Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission voted to establish a subcommittee to decide if the eight proposed watersheds should be declared distressed.

Ohio Farm Bureau Federation says it is pleased with the decision that will give ag leaders an opportunity to be part of the conversation.

Kasch signed the executive order on July 12 to combat algal blooms that have plagued Lake Erie.

If implemented, the executive order would place nutrient management regulations on thousands of farms.
