Ohio crops: Corn 53%; soybeans 53% good to excellent

Large rains have had a negative impact on fields across much of Ohio.  According to the latest Crop and Weather report just 53 percent of the state’s corn crop is rated good to excellent, a 3 point decline from last week and 10 percent is silking.  Soybean conditions dropped 5 points as 53 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent and 25 percent of the crop is blooming and 1 percent setting pods.

The state’s winter wheat crop is nearly mature and 77 percent is harvested.  Ninety-six percent of the oats crop is headed and 18 percent mature.

Sixty-five percent of the second cutting of alfalfa hay is now complete.
