October dairy stocks decline slightly

U.S. dairy products in cold storage are down on the month and the year.

In USDA’s latest Cold Storage report, cheese stocks totaled more than 1.4 billion pounds, down slightly from 2021, and one percent on the month. Other types of cheese, like mozzarella and parmesan, set a monthly high record.

Butter inventories were down 14 percent from last year and 10 percent from the previous month at more than 239 million pounds.
