Northwestern Wisconsin turkey farm struck by avian influenza

Wisconsin now has four farms affected by highly-pathogenic avian influenza.

Kevin Hoffman with the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection tells Brownfield the new case was confirmed over the weekend in a commercial turkey flock near Cameron in Barron County.  The farm is one of the Jenny-O Turkey farms supplying their processing plant in Barron.

Hoffman says there are nearly 80 additional poultry premises within the 10-kilometer control zone, so all the farms are on high biosecurity alert.

The affected farm will be depopulating just over 46,500 turkeys.
