NFU supports new budget bill framework

The National Farmers Union supports the new framework for the budget reconciliation bill announced by the White House Thursday. NFU President Rob Larew says the proposed changes to the tax code do NOT include eliminating stepped-up basis at death while focused on making sure the highest income Americans pay their fair share.

He says the framework is a tremendous step toward facing many of the nation’s challenges including climate change, helping speed up implementation of climate smart practices on farms and ranches and says the proposal demonstrates support for biofuels.

Larew says the plan includes many investments for rural America, including rural health care improvements.

The Build Back Better framework is $1.75 Trillion dollars, down from the original $3.5 Trillion dollar price tag.

NFU is urging Congress to pass the bill.
