NFU president says summertime sales of E15 is great news for farmers

National Farmers Union President Rob Larew says the waiver allowing summer sales of E-15 is great news for farmers, “because of all the benefits that using more biofuels has for farmers. It creates better prices with the markets and so forth.”

He tells Brownfield it also benefits consumers.

“As we get into the driving season with summer, consumers are going to benefit from reduced emissions and lower-cost emissions,” he says. “Ultimately, this is a win for everyone.”

Larew says the ag industry continues to call for certainty that year-round sales of E15 would provide.

“Unfortunately we don’t have the certainty. That is a bit frustrating for us but we’re continuing to bring the good news of biofuels to EPA and the administration as a whole and we’ll work with our allies on capitol hill to see what we can gain.”

The Environmental Protection Agency’s emergency fuel waiver will go into effect on May 1.
