New training academy for CLAAS big boost for Nebraska, area students
CLAAS has unveiled a new state-of-the-art training facility that will increase efficiency in farm repairs while connecting students to the workforce.
“Companies like CLAAS who do agriculture manufacturing invest in our state, that’s a big deal for us. That’s a double win.” Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts says.
He says the investment helps grow the state’s ag economy. “A lot of great classroom, high technology in the classroom, hands on experience in the equipment bays – this is really going to help us develop the talent here in Nebraska to take the great jobs companies like CLAAS have here in our state.”
The 20,000 square foot training academy allows students and dealer technicians to work directly with industry experts at the company’s headquarters in Omaha, NE.
Head of the Academy Felicia Nichelson tells Brownfield one focus is diagnostic repair. “The trouble shooting is something in this industry that is key,” she says. “The less downtime that farmers have on pieces of equipment, the better off their harvest yield is going to be and that is something we’re always thinking of with the technicians is how can we teach them to support the farmers out in the field and part of that is the technical expertise they pick up.”
Ricketts, Ag Director Steve Wellman and American and German CLAAS leadership made either a virtual or in-person appearance.
