About 200 guests have celebrated the opening of a new state of the art feed mill in east-central Illinois which also serves west-central Indiana. Darin Wohltman, with The Equity says the Horace Feed Mill is designed to produce up to 450-tons-per-year of complete swine feeds, which will feed more than one-million pigs a year. The mill will process corn from the co-op’s four-million-bushel grain elevator.
The Equity, founded in 1919, is one of the largest independent ag co-ops in Illinois. Its leaders say they want to expand the number of contract feeding pig farms in the area with the new feed mill expansion.
