New study highlights economic benefits of nationwide adoption of E15

Nationwide adoption of E15 could help drive economic growth, according to a new study by ABF Economics.

Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor says…”a nationwide move to E15 would add $17.8 billion to US GDP, support more than 182,000 additional jobs, generate $10.5 billion in new household income, and save consumers $12.2 billion in fuels costs.”

Speaking during a Senate Ag Subcommittee hearing today, Skor said expanding market access to higher ethanol blends is a top priority.

“E15 is sold at 2,500 sites in 30 states across the nation. We expand that exponentially by making long-term infrastructure incentives available to fuel retailers,” she says. “The Biofuels Infrastructure Partnership (BIP) and Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIP) programs administered under Ag Secretaries Vilsack and Perdue significantly expanded markets for higher ethanol blends. Any infrastructure package considered by Congress should build upon these successes to further promote investment in low carbon biofuels.”

A previous study released by Growth Energy found that a nationwide transition from E10 to E15 would lower greenhouse gas emissions by 17.6 million tons each year.

E15 is approved for cars 2001 and newer—more than 95 percent of cars on the road.
