New program providing free tax consulting for Illinois farmers
The Illinois Soybean Association and K-coe Isom, the nation’s leading business advisory and accounting firm for food and ag businesses, have partnered to help Illinois farmers navigate looming tax changes.
ISA Communications Director Rachel Peabody says they are utilizing checkoff funds to offer free tax consulting for Illinois farmers to prepare risk management strategies as Congress develops a new tax plan that poses significant changes for farm taxes.
She tells Brownfield any Illinois farmer can call the tax hotline at 1-888-768-0056 to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with a tax professional specializing in their area of need.
“Let’s say your family is looking to do some estate planning or trust work, or maybe you are purely looking at figuring out farm taxes and what is next for your operation; let them know what any of those specific concerns might be and they can go deeper into analysis on that or get you connected to the right professional.”
The tax hotline is available now through December 31st.
