New partnership to enhance Wendy’s beef supply chain

Wendy’s Company has announced enhancements to its beef supply chain.  The restaurant is partnering with the Progressive Beef program to improve its beef supply chain accountability, transparency, and traceability.

The program will focus on cattle care, food safety and antibiotic use, and environmental sustainability.  Wendy’s will implement the third-party verification program in a significant portion of its beef supply beginning in 2019, with a goal of at least 50 percent adoption by 2021.

Wendy’s already sources 100 percent of its beef from Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certified sources and nearly 20 percent of its beef comes from producers who have tracked and reduced their use of medically important antibiotics.
