A new year brings a new case of highly-pathogenic avian influenza to Wisconsin.
State agriculture officials tell Brownfield the virus has infected 41,000 turkeys at a commercial growing operation in southwestern Washburn County not far from Shell Lake.
The new case was reported Thursday and the birds are being depopulated.
Wisconsin’s last HPAI case was December 8th in nearby Barron County where 70,020 turkeys were affected.
