Nebraska winter wheat continues to worsen, soil moisture declines

Drought continues to impact winter wheat in Nebraska.

The USDA says 41 percent is poor-to-very poor and only 3 percent is rated excellent.

Twenty percent of oats have been planted, 20 percent behind last year’s pace.

Topsoil moisture is 64 percent short-to-very short.

Subsoil moisture is rated 77 percent short-to-very short.
