Nebraska farmers evaluate crop damage

This week’s crop progress report for Nebraska would be considered fairly positive if not for the damage inflicted by last week’s high winds and hail. Producers in those affected areas are still in the process of evaluating crops to determine if replanting is necessary.

Overall, the state’s corn crop is rated 70 percent good to excellent with soybeans rated 69 percent good to excellent. Alfalfa hay conditions rated 50 percent good to excellent and alfalfa first cutting was 50 percent complete.

Pasture and range conditions rated 39 percent good to excellent and 36 percent fair.
