Novak: New definition of RFS “hardship” needed

The CEO of the National Corn Growers Association says the battle over RFS waivers being granted to big oil refiners by the EPA is just beginning, “We are looking at OUR options for challenging the EPA’s decision.”

Chris Novak says RFS waivers are only meant to be used in hardship situations, “When you have companies receiving waivers under a hardship standard that took in $1.5 Billion in profits last year there needs to be a new definition of what constitutes a hardship.”

Novak says information about those waivers from the EPA is minimal and a lot of questions are still unanswered.

Novak spoke with Brownfield and other reporters at NCGA headquarters in Chesterfield, Missouri last week.
