NCGA sees great potential in bio-based chemicals from corn

A consultant hired by the National Corn Growers Association says developing new bio-based chemicals from corn is “where the money is.”

Nathan Danielson with BioCognito tells Brownfield technology and company demands for “sustainable” products have converged into a sweet spot for bio-based chemicals from corn, “If these are successful and we can get a sizable share of the market. We’re talking about hundreds of millions of additional bushels of corn.”

Danielson credits members of the NCGA Action Team for pushing the organization to develop new products from corn, “The growers are visionary. They’re the ones that have been telling us what to do so it’s been really good.”

It’s part of NCGA’s strategy to develop new markets for corn which includes partnering with livestock groups to promote corn-based feedstocks.
