NCGA leader pleased with Iowa corn

National Corn Growers Association President and Iowa farmer Kevin Ross says overall the corn crop is looking good in his home state.

“I haven’t done as much traveling as I normally would this time of year but just driving and seeing what I have the crop looks pretty good. So, we are looking to see a significant corn crop again this year I think.”

Ross tells Brownfield in his immediate area they are in a precarious position in terms of rainfall.

“We are right around 5 inches below our normal rainfall since April 1. That is one of the last statistics I saw. But you don’t have to go too far and there are places that have gotten a fair amount and look really good.”

Ross farms near Council Bluffs in the southwestern part of the state.
