NCBA urges USMCA ratification without COOL

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and its affiliated state groups are urging Congress to swiftly ratify the USMCA. They’ve sent a letter to congressional leaders saying for the beef industry, it’s very difficult to improve on zero tariffs, zero quotas, and science-based standards and the USMCA updates NAFTA to achieve those goals.

They also urge Congress to oppose any efforts to re-instate mandatory Country of Origin Labeling which they call a failed policy.

NCBA says U.S. beef exports to Canada and Mexico last year reached 1-point-8 Billion dollars which added $70 dollars per head and value to every level of the production chain.
