NCBA hopes to play “some offense” with new administration

cattle-grazing-southwest-iowaThe president-elect of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), Craig Uden, says his organization looks forward to working with the new Trump administration.

“Perhaps we can get some things moved through,” Uden says. “Instead of being on the defense, maybe we can look at some offense.”

As for concerns about the new administration’s stance on trade, Uden says NCBA will continue to emphasize the importance of export markets to the cattle industry.

“We know there are issues out there with trade,” he says. “But in order for our cattlemen and cattlewomen to be successful, we have to maintain these numbers and we have to increase this price—and we have to remember 96 percent of our people live outside of our borders.”

“At least it (trade) is not off the table, so I think there’s a lot of positives there.”

Uden is a cattle producer from central Nebraska.
