National Milk Producers comments on proposed bioengineered food labeling standard

The Coalition for Safe Affordable Food has submitted comments to the USDA for their proposed National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard.

National Milk Producers Federation is one of thirty-six member organizations in the coalition.  President Jim Mulhern says labels should not be used to scare consumers on purchasing decisions and criticized food labels that manipulate consumers through unfounded fears.  He referred to these labels as dishonest marketing and unfair to other food companies, urging USDA to “express its disdain” for the marketing practice.

National Milk encouraged USDA to use a science-based approach that is consistent with other countries.
