Monsanto to begin integration into Bayer

The integration of Monsanto into the Bayer group can now begin.  One of the requirements from the US Department of Justice was that the two companies remain separate until the completion of a divestment by Bayer to BASF of certain Crop Science businesses.  That transaction was completed today.

Before today’s action, Bayer did not have access to internal information at Monsanto and was not privy to information relating to the recent glyphosate trial and any other legal disputes, like potential claims for damages related to the product Dicamba.  Now that the divestment is complete, Bayer can be actively involved in the defense efforts related to any legal matters.

Bayer became the sole owner of Monsanto earlier this year.
